Makeup with a mask?? 2020 COVID19 Edition

Are you back at work after quarantine and have to wear a mask? How do you feel about it? In once sense, I am glad to feel a little protected but overall I can't stand the feeling of something on my face for that long!! I have come to find out I am a very expressive person. I should have known that, since I am part Italian lol! But seriously, I think we can all agree on the fact that it is not fun to wear a mask for hours on end? I can totally sympathize with all of our nurses and doctors who have been doing this for their whole careers.

On a brighter note, I do have some pointers to give after wearing a mask now for a few weeks at work. I made the mistake day #1 on wearing a full face of makeup. When I got home later I noticed my face where my mask was covering had broken out. Hello pimples!!

Tip #1: Do not wear foundation on the bottom half of your face. In fact, I just wear concealer underneath my eyes and a tiny bit on my nose and forehead. My skin has been doing much better since; no break outs - and let's face it, a much quicker makeup application.

Tip #2: Play up your eyes! Since this is basically all people are going to see...have fun with your eye makeup! Now might be a chance to play with some colours, add false lashes if you are feeling adventurous, practice those bushy brows.

Tip #3: Wear lip balm and drink lots of water when you can. When you do wear a mask, your skin becomes a little more dehydrated than normal. Having some lip balm on will prevent your lips from drying up.

Tip #4: While it is a little disappointing not being able to show off your new favourite Summer lip colour; instead try dressing yourself up with some added jewelry instead. Add some cute earrings, a necklace or even a few to layer the look, along with a cute bracelet.

Tip #5: The best accessory you can have to your face is your smile. So even though people can't really see it, they can still tell you are smiling by the look in your eyes.

Even though wearing a mask is not super ideal for the regular Joe, I think we can definitely make the best of a not so fun situation by following the steps above. Stay safe out there, and remember: "This too shall pass." Pretty soon we will be back out there sporting our favourite red lips again!!
